Charity?

Ever wondered why we are so charitable?

For instance, we are going over to Russia to help a few people. 7 to be exact. Do you know how much money these 7 people are costing you and I? Don't worry... we never will know... but it is more than any thousand of us can come up with. Isn't this the country that kinda hates us? They most recently were taking huge amounts of oil from Iraq... and sending them money and weapons under the table so Saddam could continue to keep his subjects in control and have something to defend himself from us. Like he really could anyway.

We are spending Billions over there tearing that mess apart and getting them on their feet. Now we are helping save 7 Russians in a special operation. Well I know they aren't as bad as the terrorist who blow up buildings and busses, but they are not saints either. I am not saying we shouldn't help these people... just saying, Look at what we are doing in this world.... helping people.... and how many people have you heard in the media in the last couple of years talking about how we are so cold hearted and cruel. We need to be helping the poor, feeding the starving in Africa, and killing babies in special clinics for the mothers that don’t want them. In America, we aren’t doing enough. Over in Iraq, we are doing to much... for some reason we should be in Botswana, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia and Niger. Well we are sending money over there… but that isn’t enough.

What is enough? I think we should only send them Food. Food that can feed the poor… not food the wealthy want… food that the starving can eat. Then we should make sure that the people over there are giving it to them. Yes that may be a police action, but how else do we make sure our dollars are spent right. That is probably the only real beef I have with the aid programs… the aid doesn’t get to the people it should.

Think about it… are we doing enough? Are we doing to much? How about here in our own country. A country with a dream, a purpose, a real opportunity. It is there for everyone. Why should we subsidize the dream. Make those who have sacrificed their life to come to this country, feel short changed because they didn’t have to sacrifice… they could have just ask for it and it would have been provided.

I say work for it.. go for it.. it feels better.
